The Member of Parliament for the Abuakwa South Constituency in the Eastern Region, Hon. Dr. Kingsly Agyemang, has condemned the recent attack on health professionals at the Greater Accra Regional Hospital, popularly known as Ridge Hospital.
Speaking on Ultimate FM’s Cup of Tea program, moderated by Sachiel Ibn Yaccub, the legislator emphasized that healthcare facilities are places where the most vulnerable people are found. By virtue of their medical conditions, these individuals face critical situations and require extensive caregiving and full attention to recover from the trauma they experienced, often due to accidents that put them in such a state. He expressed dismay that these patients are now being exposed to uncivil, inhumane behavior, which he described as almost a “coup d’état” on hospital facilities.
He stressed that, for all intents and purposes, even during war, healthcare facilities are spared from attacks. Therefore, for a gentleman and a group of people to besiege a health facility and condemn healthcare workers represents one of the lowest points that can occur in any civil society.

Hon. Dr. Agyemang also disclosed that this same individual had previously attacked the Member of Parliament for the Nhyiaso Constituency, Hon. Stephen Amoah, without provocation, within the precincts of Parliament during the annual presentation of the 2025 budget.
Additionally, he criticized the Minister of Health, Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akando, for engaging in conversation with the suspect, who was seen assaulting health professionals in broad daylight. “Who does that?” he questioned.
He reiterated that the minority in Parliament is demanding that the Parliamentary Enquiry Committee and the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to thoroughly investigate this matter to seek justice for the people whose privacy and safety have been violated by this unpardonable incident.
