The Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council (ARCC) has appealed to residents who picked parts of the military helicopter or personal belongings from the crash site at Adansi Akrofuom on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, to return them immediately.
In a press release issued on Saturday, August 9, the Ashanti Regional Minister, Hon. Dr. Frank Amoakohene, said intelligence indicated that some of the first people to arrive at the scene took items, including components of the aircraft and other possessions.
The council stressed that all items, no matter how small, such as metals, screws, drives, or circuit boards, must be returned. These can be handed over to a Unit Committee member, Assembly Member, Municipal or District Chief Executive, or any member of the investigating team on the ground.
To encourage compliance, the ARCC is offering a cash reward to anyone who willingly returns such items before the close of day on Monday, August 11, 2025.
“Any person found in possession of such items beyond the above date would be deemed a criminal and will face the full rigours of the law,” the statement warned.
The appeal comes as investigators continue work at the crash site to determine the cause of the tragedy, which claimed the lives of eight people, including two cabinet ministers, three Ghana Armed Forces crew members, and other senior officials.
