Youth advocate and member of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) communications team, Atick Yakubu, has criticised the government for failing to deliver on its youth empowerment promises during an appearance on GHToday with Joshua Kodjo Mensah on Thursday, February 5, 2026.
Yakubu questioned the government’s commitment to implementing policies aimed at creating employment opportunities for young Ghanaians. He described several flagship programmes as underperforming or unfulfilled.
“Your government is not paying contractors, not funding agencies to fulfil campaign promises,” Yakubu said.
He challenged ordinary Ghanaians to assess the impact of initiatives such as the one million youth trained in digital skills promised in 2024, claiming that the funds are yet to reach the intended beneficiaries.

He bluntly graded the government’s performance as “E” or “F,” saying it would not even meet the standards of a grade four student.
Yakubu urged the government to take urgent action to address these shortcomings, stressing that effective implementation of youth policies is critical to creating sustainable and well-paying employment opportunities.
