The Ministry of Energy and Green Transition has approved a request by the Ghana National Gas Company Ltd. (Ghana Gas) to carry out a scheduled maintenance shutdown of the Atuabo Gas Processing Plant from August 16-30, 2025.
According to a statement signed by Richmond Rockson, Spokesperson and Head of Communication at the Ministry, the maintenance is part of government’s commitment to ensuring the continued safe and reliable operation of the plant.
Ghana Gas will temporarily suspend the supply of gas during the shutdown to facilitate the works, which will include inspections, repairs, and upgrades to key equipment and systems aimed at improving operational efficiency and performance.
The Ministry said it is working closely with key power sector players to mitigate any potential impact on electricity generation during the period. Measures include the strategic use of alternative fuel sources to maintain a stable and uninterrupted power supply across the country.
It also reaffirmed its commitment to reliable electricity provision and assured the public of regular updates on the progress of the maintenance works.
