Bagbin unveils Yamoransa Model Lab 14 in Kaleo

The quiet town of Kaleo in the Upper West Region witnessed a moment of transformation as the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, officially dedicated Lab 14 – Yamoransa Model, a cutting-edge ICT and STEM facility designed to empower the next generation through technology-driven education.

For the students and educators in Kaleo, this isn’t just another classroom—it’s a gateway to the future. With digital tools and hands-on learning experiences, Lab 14 is set to bridge the gap between rural and urban education, ensuring that children in Kaleo have access to the same opportunities as their peers across the country.

A Vision for the Future

Despite his demanding national duties, Speaker Bagbin made it a point to personally inaugurate the facility, emphasizing the life-changing impact it will have on the community.

“This is more than just a building filled with computers. It is a beacon of hope, a symbol of progress, and a game-changer for the young minds who will pass through its doors,” he said.

The Speaker stressed the role of technology in modern education, highlighting how the Yamoransa Model has already transformed teaching and learning experiences across the country. He particularly noted the program’s success in getting more girls involved in STEM subjects, a crucial step toward gender inclusivity in technology-driven fields.

A Gift to the People, by the People

While the project was made possible through partnerships with the Helping Africa Foundation, TechAide, and local authorities, Speaker Bagbin made one thing clear: this facility belongs to the community.

“This is your project. I only mobilized the money and the brains to put it together. Own it. Protect it. Sustain it,” he urged.

His message was simple yet powerful—development is not about handouts but about shared responsibility. He encouraged community members to take pride in Lab 14 and ensure its long-term impact by actively engaging in its upkeep and supporting its programs.

A Call to Action for Students and Educators

Turning his attention to the students, Speaker Bagbin encouraged them to see the lab as a space of endless possibilities.

“Let this be a place where curiosity is sparked, creativity is unleashed, and knowledge is expanded. The future of our nation rests in your capable hands,” he told them.

To educators, he offered a challenge: use technology to inspire and shape minds, making learning not just a duty but a journey of discovery.

Sustaining the Dream

The Speaker wrapped up his speech with a call for continued support, reminding all stakeholders that quality education requires investment.

“There is no free lunch in the world. Value is never free. If we want to maintain this standard of excellence, we must all contribute—financially, materially, and intellectually,” he stated.

As the sun set over Kaleo, Lab 14 stood as a monument to what is possible when vision meets action. For the young boys and girls who will walk through its doors, it represents a brighter, more connected future, one where education knows no barriers and technology becomes a tool for empowerment.
