Speaker nominee for the 9th Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin has pledged to dedicate his tenure to strengthen Ghana’s democracy and ensure Parliament effectively meets the needs of the people.
In his first public statement following his nomination by President-elect John Dramani Mahama, Rt. Hon Bagbin promised to uphold the principles of fairness, justice, and the rule of law while steering the legislative body through the nation’s next chapter.
“I would like to take this opportunity to assure the President-elect, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, and the people of Ghana that I will, more than before, rededicate myself fully to the task ahead of the country,” Bagbin said. “I will work to strengthen our democratic institutions and ensure that Parliament remains an effective and responsive institution to the needs and hopes of the people.”
Rt. Hon Bagbin emphasized his long-standing commitment to Ghana’s democratic ideals, vowing to maintain impartiality and serve all citizens equitably.
“Throughout my years of service to Parliament and the people of Ghana, I have always remained loyal to Ghana and committed to the principles of justice, fairness, and respect for the rule of law,” he declared.
His assurances signal a leadership agenda focused on inclusivity, transparency, and responsiveness, aiming to restore and enhance public confidence in parliamentary processes
“I will continue to uphold these values and ensure that the ninth parliament operates with the highest standards of integrity, transparency, accountability, and inclusiveness”.
