Government has reaffirmed that the senior national women’s football team, the Black Queens, remain safe and in good condition while in the United Arab Emirates for the Pink Ladies Cup.
In a statement by the Ministry of Sports and Recreation on Monday, March 02, the authorities disclosed that the Sports Minister has been in continuous contact with the Ghana Football Association, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, and Ghana’s diplomatic mission in the UAE to monitor the situation and safeguard the team’s welfare.
Representatives from Ghana’s Mission in the UAE have also visited the team’s training base to personally assess their safety and provide assurances of government support. The Ministry commended the Embassy for its swift and proactive engagement in ensuring the players’ well-being.
Sports Ministry emphasized that protecting Ghanaian athletes abroad remains a top priority, adding that developments are being closely tracked in collaboration with relevant authorities.
Officials assured that any necessary steps would be taken promptly should circumstances require.
The Ministry further appealed to the public to stay calm and rally behind the Black Queens as they intensify preparations for the upcoming Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
