The Black Stars failed to defeat Uganda in their second friendly game of the March international break in Marrakech on Tuesday evening.
Ghana settled for a draw despite twice taking the lead through Jerome Opoku and Jordan Ayew.
Otto Addo made five changes to the starting eleven that lost to Nigeria, including Ebenezer Annan, Denis Odoi, Abu Francis, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, and Jojo Wollacott.
Ghana started strongly and created chances with Jordan Ayew, but his shot was parried away from close range.
Jerome Opoku scored the opening goal in the seventh minute, breaking the deadlock after Jordan Ayew delivered a corner kick.
The center-back scored his first goal for the Black Stars since making his debut last in 2023.
Ghana’s joy was short-lived as Steven Mukwala’s goal leveled the game for the Cranes 14 minutes after the game’s opening goal.
Annan fouled his marker in the box, and the Asante Kotoko forward converted the advantage to make it 1-1.
The Black Stars secured a penalty through Odoi, who was fouled in the Ugandan box.
Jordan Ayew scored a goal from the spot to restore Ghana’s lead, bringing his total goals for the national team to four in his last three games.
Ernest Nuamah nearly scored a third before the break, but his attempt went over the crossbar, giving Ghana a 2-1 lead heading into recess.
After the break, both teams had limited chances, but Uganda appeared to be more dangerous as they surged forward.
Wollacott made a crucial save in the 73rd minute after Ghana’s defense failed to counter Uganda’s attack.
The Cranes secured a 2-2 draw after Wollacott’s save from a header was not handled properly, allowing the opposition to score from the rebound.
The game ended in a draw with neither team able to score the third despite a late attempt for the winner.
Otto Addo’s team thus failed to win a game during the March international break, losing to Nigeria in the first friendly.
