Busia, Dombo spirits desert NPP for NDC while Danquah reigns –Asiedu Nketia

The national Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia has said, the spirits of Dombo and Busia which formed the historic foundation of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Dombo, Busia and Danquah tradition is leaving the party for failing to recognize the party’s root whenever they are in government.

The former Wenchi East member of Parliament in the stronghold of Busia, while campaigning in the Sekyere Kumawu Constituency during NDC’s acclamation of Kwasi Amankwaa as the party’s Parliamentary candidate for the 23rd May Kumawu by-election said the NPP is no more recognized in Wenchi the hometown of Busia whose praises the party always sings.

“The NPP always pride themselves that the UP Party now NPP is Danquah, Busia Dombo party because the party has three legs one in Akyem, hometown of Danquah, one in Bono Wenchi while the other leg is in Dombo hometown in the Upper West. They’ve not brought any development to the areas mentioned, they are just using the name of Busia and Dombo for their political selfish gains. So in Wenchi we have learnt our lesson that’s why we voted against them in 2020 general elections’’ he said.

He further explained,”Dombos in the Upper West Region first rebelled against the NPP and voted for the NDC because they know why SD Dombo joined the UP now NPP Party. Dombo selected the UP because of things that were going on around that time. Today what is happening around us is unemployment, we are facing economic hardship, our roads are in poor state and the health system’’ he stressed.

The NDC’s former Wenchi Member of Parliament disclosed” Please note that those of us from Wenchi in the Bono region no longer trust the NPP therefore we have refused to associate ourselves with the current NPP which still pride itself as members of the Danqua Dombo Busia tradition. We said, the NPP can’t continue to deceive us with Busia’s pictures as campaign messages for our votes. So going into 2020 elections Wenchi electorates said they don’t see any connection of Busia in the current NPP which has been taken over by the Danquahs. Which has eliminated Busia and Dombo from the party so if Busia is alive by now he would have joined the NDC. Because every progressive project in Wenchi was an NDC initiative therefore it is time for other NPP traditional Constituencies across the country to learn from what is going on in Wenchi. Because for us from Wenchi we have nothing to do with the NPP again. Where Busia was born is currently under control of NDC. Busia’s district Wenchi, which was divided into three constituencies including Banda and Tain Constituencies are all also under the control of the NDC ’’ he mocked the NPP.

Addressing Kumawu electorates, he entreated them to vote against the NPP on 23rd May 2023 by-election to send a bitter lesson to the party that only recognize the needs of the Kumawu farming district only during elections period.

He described overnight contruction of Kumawu town roads and Kumawu to Effiduase main road as an insult to the Sekyere Kumawu district.

“The NPP abandoned the Kumawu district Hospital project which was 70% before the NDC left office. If they care about you I’m sure they could have completed the project for use now. The whole Country is counting on the Kumawu constituency to send a signal to the NPP by voting against the party in the by-election’’ he reiterated.
