A newborn baby girl was found abandoned in a bush near a private school at Bronyibima Estate, Elmina, in the Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem (KEEA) Municipality on Tuesday, February 17, 2026.
According to reports by GHOne News’ Yaw Boagyan, the infant was discovered around 4:30 p.m. by a local rabbit farmer who initially thought the cries he heard were from an animal.
Upon investigation, he was shocked to find the newborn wrapped in a cloth and placed inside a polythene bag.

The farmer immediately raised the alarm, and nearby residents assisted in rescuing the baby. She was quickly transported to Bronyibima Hospital, where medical staff confirmed she is in stable condition.
The Social Welfare Department of the KEEA Municipality has since taken custody of the child to ensure her welfare and to facilitate further investigations.

The police have also been notified and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Further details are expected as authorities continue their inquiries.
