The Chartered Institute of Marketing Ghana, CIMG has charged business owners to prioritize the continuous development of their professional marketing personnel to ensure they remain relevant and abreast with marketing trends.

Addressing graduands at the maiden CIMG graduation ceremony, CIMG President, Dr. Daniel Kasser-Tee emphasized the need for businesses to be built around customers.

“As you are no doubt aware, marketing exists to create customer value for the long-term interest of businesses. With this in mind, we come to the realization that the only way to run a business sustainably is to build it around the customer,” he reminded the graduands.

“These, I must say, cannot and should not be based on guess work but on thorough research into all three components of the marketing environment plus researching into the existing and future needs of the customer,” he added.

Dr. Kasser-Tee hence charged business leaders to equip their personnel to effectively execute their roles as marketers.

“We call upon business leaders to champion the continuous professional development of their professional marketing personnel to enable them remain relevant and play the effective role of promoting and protecting the interest of customers in their organizations,” he concluded.

The education minister on his part reechoed the importance of marketing in making Ghana a competitive player in the global space. In a speech read on his behalf by Prof. Francis Nunoo, Dr Yaw Adutwum asserts professional marketing education remains essential for economic expansion.

“For me, professional marketing education serves as a cornerstone for economic growth, innovation, and sustainability in any society. Particularly in a dynamic and emerging economy like Ghana, its significance cannot be overstated. By nurturing a pool of competent professional marketers, Ghana can stimulate domestic consumption, attract foreign investment, stir up economic recovery and foster entrepreneurship, all of which are essential for economic expansion and job creation.”, he intimated.

“Professional marketing education should not just be about selling products; it should be about shaping the future of our nation. By investing in this, Ghana can unlock new opportunities, drive sustainable development, and position itself as a competitive player on the global stage,” he added

In all, some 119 persons graduated with various certificates namely; Professional Certificate in Marketing, Professional Advanced Certificate in Marketing, Professional Diploma in Marketing, Professional Advanced Diploma in Marketing/ Professional Bachelor’s Degree in Applied Marketing, Professional Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing, Professional Marketer – CIMG USP and Professional Master’s Degree in Applied Marketing.

Meanwhile Parliament in 2023 passed the CIMG Regulations 2023, (L.I. 2479). This feat according to Dr. Kasser-Tee is a boost for the marketing profession and the execution of the Institute’s functions as stipulated in the CIMG ACT 2020 (Act 1021).
