The Trasacco Group of Companies has condemned what it describes as an unlawful demolition at its Tema Springs Development along the Accra–Tema Motorway, distancing itself from claims that the exercise was sanctioned by the government or the Office of the National Chief Imam.
The incident, which occurred last week, saw the destruction of fence walls and other infrastructure belonging to the company and its clients. A police deployment helped restore calm at the site.
At a media briefing in Accra on Friday, September 26, Trasacco’s Corporate Affairs and Legal Director, Kwame Owusu Danso, Esq., confirmed the damages and said the company was fully cooperating with the Ghana Police Service in its investigations.
According to Mr. Danso, the police have identified several suspects linked to the attack and are questioning them. Others are on the run and being pursued.
“We strongly condemn these criminal acts. We are fully cooperating with the police and other security agencies to ensure justice and protect our clients’ investments,” he said, urging affected clients to remain calm.
Chief Imam, Government Reject Alleged Involvement
Reports suggested that those behind the demolition claimed they were acting on directives from the government and the Office of the National Chief Imam. Both entities have denied the allegations.
In a statement, the Chief Imam’s office stressed that His Eminence Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu had no involvement in the incident and had issued no such directive.
Trasacco said it had also written to the Presidency seeking clarification on allegations of military involvement in the demolitions. The company is awaiting an official response.

Trasacco Asserts Legal Ownership
Mr. Danso also provided details of the project’s legal status, stating that the 270.1-acre development was acquired from the Tema Development Corporation (TDC) in 2004, with the lease formally executed on November 29, 2012.
“For over a decade, we have been dedicated to lawfully transforming this area into a secure and tranquil environment for our residents,” he said. “We have prioritised community infrastructure, including schools and essential facilities.”
Trasacco assured homeowners, clients, and investors of its commitment to protecting their interests.
“We ask everyone involved to stay calm and let the legal process unfold. The rule of law must be followed, and no one is above it,” Mr. Danso said.
The company also urged the public to disregard misinformation about the ownership or legitimacy of the land, emphasising that the Tema Springs project remains a safe and secure residential community.
