Ghanaian music icon, Charles Kojo Fosu, widely known as Daddy Lumba, has passed away. His family confirmed his death in a statement released on Saturday, July 26, 2025.
The Fosu family, in a notice signed by Fati Ali Yallah, Esq., expressed profound sorrow and grief over the loss, stating that the legendary musician died earlier in the day after a short illness.
“Daddy Lumba was more than a musician; he was a cultural icon whose music touched countless lives,” the statement said. His soulful voice and poignant lyrics, the family noted, provided the soundtrack to love stories and captured the poetry of the nation’s struggles, dreams, and resilience.
The family respectfully requested privacy during this time of mourning and announced that details of funeral arrangements will be shared in the coming days.
