The Ayawaso West Municipal Assembly has donated some relief items to some markets, prisons and trotro stations in the municipality to aid in the fight against the spread of the novel covid-19 virus.
Led by its MCE Mrs Sandra Owusu-Ahinkorah, the assembly from its internally generated funds, gave out sanitizers, veronica buckets, gloves, masks, etc.
Reassuring constituents during the donation, the MCE said “we want to saves lives, this means everywhere people congregate including markets and lorry stations.”
On the need to prioritize prisoners which many tend to have ignored during this crisis, she noted “most times we don’t think about prisoners but we forget that they interact with prison officers.”
“When one person gets it all inmates will get it,” she ended.
Each of the recipient groups received approximately but not limited to 10 gallons of hand sanitizers, 5 veronica buckets, 10 boxes of gloves, 5 boxes of surgical nose masks, 100 reusable nose masks and N95 masks.
Other items were 10 gallons of bleach, 10 gallons of liquid soap, 10 rolls of tissue paper, 4 pieces of veronica buckets, and 2 gun thermometers.
Ghana’s COVID-19 cases shot up to 132 as at Thursday, March 26 including three deaths, the Disease Surveillance Unit announced.
54 cases were confirmed from the regular surveillance systems while the remaining 78 cases were confirmed from travelers under mandatory quarantine.
The sudden spike in case incidence is as a result of the mandatory quarantine and compulsory testing for all travelers entering Ghana, as directed by the president.
Meanwhile, one person has fully recovered from coronavirus in Ghana, Health officials confirmed to Starrfm.com.gh.
