A number of pupils drawn from basic schools in the Cape Coast Metropolis have been treated to some fun activities by Oiada International, a non governmental organization.

The students from ABURA Ahmadiyya Basic Sch A & B, St. Lawrence Catholic Basic School A& B, Ayifua Anglican Basic School A&B and English & Arabic Basic Sch A&B engaged in debate competition and other fun games including singing and dancing.

According to CEO for Oiada International Eric Jones, the event “Back to School Fun & Fitness” event was to prepare the participants for the educational calendar.

“We had African dancers and drummers there to kick off the students going back to school as well as fitness professionals walking them through a fitness routine so that they can remain healthy throughout the school year.” He told Starr News from his base in the United States.

The occasion was graced by Chief of Oguaa Abura Cape Coast Nana Okofo Okogyedom Kwamina Agyei IV.

In his address, Nana Agyei IV advised pupils to take their studies seriously. He took the opportunity to highlight some developmental challenges in the community including lack of a public Library.

The chief further disclosed the only Government Senior High School in the community does not have a boarding facility, a development he argues affects access to quality education.

The basic school pupils who participated in the activities expressed their gratitude to Oiada for such fun filled event.

Some staff of OIDA assured the pupils of more of such educational activities in the offing.

According to the staff the organization is poised to promote education in the community and across the globe by supporting schools and pupils with Educational materials that will help enhance teaching and learning.

Chief Executive Officer Eric Jones who joined the event via the state of the art Cisco powered Telepresence system established by his organisation also assured his outfit will do more to assist in addressing educational challenges in the region and the country at large.

The activities took place at the Oiada Centre which is a facility equipped with the state of the art gadgets for distance learning in Cape Coast.
