Member of Parliament for Ketu South and Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Abla Dzifa Gomashie, has openly expressed her support for dividing her constituency, citing its large size as a challenge to effectively addressing the needs of her constituents.
Speaking on Starr Chat with Bola Ray on Thursday, September 11, the minister emphasized that the welfare of the people should take precedence over political pride associated with managing a large voter base.
“I would champion the division of my constituency because it’s too large and dealing with the issues that come with it is really daunting. I know from the bottom of my heart that all the MPs before me will attest to this fact,” she said.
Gomashie stressed that her position is motivated by a commitment to ensuring development reaches every community in the area.
“For the sake of the people, I’d rather the people benefit than the personal glory of ‘you got the big votes.’ And so what?” she added.
