The Minister for Education, Hon Haruna Iddrisu, has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to completing all uncompleted Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFUND) projects, including the administration block at Accra Technical University (ATU).
Speaking during the inauguration of the ATU Governing Board in Accra today, the minister decried the persistent trend of successive governments abandoning inherited projects, describing the practice as wasteful and costly to the taxpayer.
“I am aware of the number of uncompleted projects in the school. I have asked GETFUND to make an inventory of all projects across the country to have a plan around it,” Hon Iddrisu stated.
He assured that the government would prioritise completion of such projects, especially at technical universities like ATU, to enhance infrastructure and quality of education.
The minister also stressed the importance of due diligence in the dealings of the newly inaugurated 19-member board and urged them to expedite the process of appointing a new Vice Chancellor.

He further called for a rebranding of technical universities to reflect their role as practical and career-oriented institutions.
“Technical education must be seen as a valuable pathway for acquiring practical skills and career readiness,” he noted.
