A Security Analyst, Dr. Adam Bonaa, has urged the election security task force to maintain its ongoing discussions with political parties as preparations intensify for the upcoming December polls.
This call follows demands by political parties for increased surveillance and enhanced security measures after a crucial meeting aimed at addressing key issues surrounding election security and ensuring peace throughout the electoral process.
Speaking on Starr Today with Joshua Kodjo Mensah the Security Analyst commended the engagement, describing it as timely.
“The police should engage more with political parties. Increased engagement raises the likelihood of smoothing out any rough edges, ensuring a more peaceful situation on the day,” he said.
“I have intel that the police have already developed strategies to manage potential flashpoints and have deployed adequate resources to these areas. For instance, in places like Kasoa, I expect the police to have their SWAT team on standby, as there is a likelihood of individuals attempting to incite trouble. Areas like Odododiodio, Techiman, Ejura, and others are known trouble spots, and I am aware that the police are implementing measures to address these challenges,” he added.
Dr. Bonaa emphasized the importance of ensuring robust security measures to maintain peace and order during the elections. He called for continued collaboration between security agencies and political stakeholders to prevent conflicts and ensure a smooth electoral process.
