The Electoral Commission of Ghana has responded to concerns about the printing of ballot papers for the upcoming 2024 Presidential and Parliamentary Elections, clarifying that the process has not yet started.
The 2024 elections are especially important as they will influence Ghana’s political landscape following a period of increased political tension and scrutiny of electoral processes. As the nation prepares for the December elections, the Commission aims to ensure that the elections are held in a credible and fair manner, seeking to alleviate public concerns and build confidence in the electoral system.
In a press release dated October 10, Deputy Chairman Samuel Tettey stated, “Printing of ballot papers has not commenced. We assure the public that ballot statistics will be provided to candidates and political parties before we proceed with printing.”
Notices of Poll are scheduled to be printed beginning Friday, October 11, 2024, with the Commission reaffirming its commitment to transparency. “The Commission will not depart from this practice,” he noted, encouraging all stakeholders to trust in the integrity of the electoral process.
