Entertainment analyst, Arnold Asamoah-Baidoo, says the public debates that followed this year’s Ghana Music Awards USA significantly increased the visibility of the event.
Speaking on Starr Showbiz with Feeling Daddy on Starr 103.5 FM, on Saturday, November 15, 2025, Arnold, who also chairs the board of the awards scheme, noted that conversations peaked after Empress Gifty was announced as Artist of the Year. He said the surge in public interest, sparked largely by disagreements and commentary—was evidence that the event had made a strong impact.
“For me, conversation around an event is very important. When you produce music or a movie, you need chatter. It’s the same with a music award,” Arnold said.

He explained that controversy is a normal part of the entertainment industry and often works in favour of an event by driving awareness. According to him, whether comments are positive or negative, what matters most is that people are talking.
Arnold urged organisers to pay attention to constructive feedback while ignoring commentary that does not contribute to the growth of the scheme. “Take the positive commentary and work with it, and relegate what is not productive,” he said.

He added that if the Ghana Music Awards USA had attracted no public conversation at all, it would have been far more concerning. The discussions that followed Empress Gifty’s win, he stressed, ultimately helped amplify the event’s relevance and reach.
