Shatta Wale did not publicise Lamborghini, EOCO brouhaha – Sammy Flex

Sammy Flex insists Shatta Wale only reacted to rumours about his Lamborghini and EOCO, not publicise them.

Samuel Atuobi Baah, popularly known as Sammy Flex, has dismissed claims that dancehall artist, Shatta Wale, publicised the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) issues surrounding his yellow Lamborghini.

Speaking in an interview with Feeling Daddy on Starr Showbiz on Starr 103.5 FM on Saturday, August 6, the Media and public relations manager for Shatta Movement emphasized that, contrary to public perception, Shatta Wale did not initiate discussions about the matter, but rather reacted to rumours that had already been circulated widely.

According to him, by the time the artiste went live on Facebook to address the rumours, blogs and social media platforms had already spread the news widely. He maintained that it would be misleading to suggest Shatta Wale was the one who gave publicity to the issue.

“I want you to know that you knew about the Shatta Wale and Lamborghini issue before Shatta spoke about it. To you it was a rumour, but to him it was reality,” he explained, insisting that Shatta Wale had every right to respond.

“That Shatta Wale’s yellow Lamborghini has been picked. And you think Shatta Wale did not have the right to explain to you how it happened? Is that how you see it? People should just say it, spread falsehood and let it go. And he didn’t have the right to come and talk about it?” he asked.

Sammy Flex added that the artist only reacted after months of restraint. “It was not as if that happened today and he talked about it tomorrow. It had happened like 3 months ago. He never talked about it. So, imagine something happens between you and I, 3 months, I don’t mention it but I wake up and McCoy is talking about it… Uncle Fred is talking about it. Roland is talking. Gerald is talking about it. Oh, everybody’s talking about it,” he recounted.

He stressed that while some dismissed the stories as mere rumours, they had a significant impact on Shatta Wale’s brand and business.

“The things that you think people say about him that you consider small, do you know how they affect his business? Do you know how they affect his running? So, the artist tells the world that among musicians in Africa or in the world, he has been able to work hard to secure for himself a Rolls Royce, a Lamborghini, a mansion, a this, a that. Then all of a sudden… not one person. Different platforms. Oh, Shatta Wale’s Lamborghini has been taken to America. But if you are the one, will you take it easy?” he quizzed.

He added that a dedicated Snapchat account and YouTube channel had even been created to spread stories about the artiste, reinforcing the need for Shatta Wale to speak up and provide clarity.

The clarification follows EOCO’s confirmation on August 5 that it seized a Lamborghini Urus belonging to Shatta Wale at his Trassaco Valley residence in Accra. The seizure, conducted in collaboration with the FBI and U.S. Department of Justice, forms part of investigations into financial crimes linked to a convicted U.S.-based fraudster.

While Shatta Wale was not charged, EOCO noted he remains a person of interest in the ongoing joint investigation with the FBI and U.S. Department of Justice.
