A four-year-old boy abducted by a woman from the Iffradulai Preparatory School in Nkawkaw Zongo school in the Eastern Region has been found alive after four days.

The incident occurred Monday, March 22, at about 12:30 pm.

The suspect reportedly sneaked to the school to abduct the boy under the pretence that the parents of the boy sent her to pick him up.

An eyewitness told Agoo FM “a lady who dressed in hijab entered the school and went to the headmaster’s office, pretended to have been sent by the parents (victim’s mother) to assist bring them home. She then took five siblings and on their way home she absconded with one of them Mansur Mohammed”

The other four pupils went home and reported to their parents.

The incident created fear among parents in the Nkawkaw area

Parents of the victim reported the incident to Nkawkaw Police. Subsequently, the Eastern Regional Police Command issued an emergency alert notice to all District commands.

The victim was abandoned in Anyinam in Atiwa East District and was found stranded by a resident who took him to the Anyinam Police station.

Anyinam District Police Commander DSP Daniel Wiafe told Agoo FM that the boy is physically hale and hearty but per standard operative procedure, he will be sent to the hospital for medical examination.

Parents of the victim have arrived at the Police station to reintegrate with their child.

Anyinam District Police Commander DSP Daniel Wiafe told Agoo FM’s Ebenezer Kojo Nyavor “on Monday, we had information on our police Eastern regional security platform to the effect that a child of four years by name Mohammed had gone missing from school.”

“Thankfully, the regional Command notified all districts close to Nkawkaw to be on alert and by His grace, early this morning one Shaibu Subiru who lives in Menskrom junction brought in the victim. Upon inquiries, police got to know that he is the very person who has gotten missing since Monday. So, the district command liaised with the Nkawkaw district Police command and they confirmed. The parents of the child have also identified him.”

The Police Commander added that “according to Shaibu Subiru, initially the child couldn’t speak. For now, he has not been able to tell the police as to how he got to this place. Now that he has seen the parents and has started talking maybe he will be able to tell how he got missing

Police are on a manhunt for the suspect.
