Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz has announced his final squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup following months of scouting, analysis and assessment of players eligible to represent Ghana at football’s biggest tournament.

The squad features a blend of experienced campaigners and exciting newcomers as Ghana prepares for the tournament to be hosted across Canada, Mexico and the United States.

Goalkeepers Benjamin Asare, Lawrence Ati-Zigi and Joseph Anang have been selected for the tournament, while Solomon Agbesi has been included as an additional squad member.

The biggest defensive change sees Cyprus-based defender Derrick Luckassen earning a call-up after replacing Alexander Djiku, who has been ruled out with a hamstring injury expected to keep him sidelined for at least six weeks.

Several familiar faces will be heading to another World Cup with the Black Stars, including Gideon Mensah, Baba Abdul Rahman, Thomas Partey, Alidu Seidu, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, Kamaldeen Sulemana, Antoine Semenyo, Iñaki Williams and captain Jordan Ayew.

The squad announcement also marks a memorable moment for a number of players who will be making their FIFA World Cup debuts. Jerome Opoku, Kojo Oppong Peprah, Abdul Mumin, Benjamin Asare, Joseph Anang, Kwasi Sibo, Augustine Boakye, Caleb Yirenkyi, Christopher Bonsu Baah, Ernest Nuamah, Brandon Thomas-Asante and Prince Kwabena Adu are all set to experience the World Cup stage for the first time.

Before departing for North America, Ghana will face Wales in an international friendly in Cardiff on June 2 as part of the team’s final preparations. The Black Stars will then travel to Washington to continue their build-up ahead of the tournament, which begins on June 11.

Ghana’s World Cup journey starts on June 17 against Panama before crucial Group L encounters against England and Croatia.
