The Ghana Police Service has established a dedicated 24-Hour Economy Secretariat at its National Headquarters in Accra, as part of measures to align with the government’s 24-hour economy initiative.
This was disclosed by the Minister for the Interior, Hon. Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, during a media briefing on July 14, 2025. According to him, the Secretariat has been tasked with coordinating and facilitating all activities of the Police Service relating to the implementation of the 24-hour economy policy.
“The Service has established a 24-Hour Economy Secretariat at the National Police Headquarters in Accra to coordinate and facilitate all activities of the Police Service related to the implementation of the 24-Hour Economy Policy,” the Minister announced.
He added that similar secretariats will be set up at the regional and divisional levels of the Police Service to ensure full coverage and support for the nationwide rollout of the initiative.
The move is aimed at ensuring sustained security and operational efficiency as Ghana transitions into a 24-hour economic framework intended to boost productivity, create jobs, and enhance national competitiveness.

He further revealed that, “the Ghana Police Service has also conducted high-impact, intelligence-led anti-robbery operations across all regions and have achieved breakthroughs in major cases.”
The Interior Minister assured the public that the government remains committed to retooling and resourcing the Police Service to support its growing responsibilities under the 24-hour economy model, adding that, in the next six months, they will start working “on the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) which will be responsible for promote confidence; investigate serious incidents, setting standards, operate independent of the police administration among others.”
