The Ghana Prisons Service has introduced a digital literacy programme and is developing a 24-hour productivity proposal to align with the national 24-Hour Economy agenda.
As part of its rehabilitation and reintegration initiatives, the Service has launched the digital programme under the One Million Coder Programme. The initiative aims to equip inmates, officers, and their dependents with essential digital skills, enhancing their prospects after incarceration and contributing to national development.
In line with President Mahama’s 24-Hour Economy policy, the Prisons Service is also drafting a proposal to align correctional operations with round-the-clock productivity goals. The move is expected to optimise rehabilitation, improve efficiency, and contribute to national economic growth.

Additionally, the Service is collaborating with the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) to recruit Prison Support Staff for non-custodial duties.
These interventions reflect a broader shift toward using innovation, education, and productivity to reform Ghana’s correctional system.
