President John Dramani Mahama has assured Singaporean businesses that Ghana’s greatest strength lies in its youthful and highly skilled workforce, which is ready to support industrial growth, technology transfer, and large-scale infrastructure projects.

Delivering the keynote address at the Ghana–Singapore Business Forum on the final day of his state visit, Mr. Mahama said Ghana’s long-term investments in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), and digital literacy are producing a labour force tailored to meet industry-specific needs.

“Ghana boasts a young and skilled workforce,” the President declared, noting that this pool of talent is prepared for sectors such as advanced manufacturing, agribusiness, renewable energy, automotive assembly, power systems, and data centres. He stressed that investors looking to Ghana will not only find a growing market, but also a competent labour base capable of driving competitiveness.

Mr. Mahama positioned Ghana as a pro-enterprise state under his leadership, citing reforms such as amendments to the public procurement law, streamlined approvals under the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) Act, and new frameworks for public-private partnerships (PPPs). These, he said, are designed to create fast and transparent pathways for investment.

He further highlighted Ghana’s strategic role as host of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Secretariat, explaining that through Ghana, businesses can efficiently and competitively reach the 400 million-strong ECOWAS market and the wider African market valued at over USD 3.4 trillion.

The President outlined a pipeline of bankable projects spanning industrial platforms, agro-industrial zones, renewable energy, transport infrastructure, port expansion, and technology services. He assured investors that Ghana will provide clear rules, viability gap funding, international guarantees, and full capital repatriation rights to protect investments.

To strengthen bilateral cooperation, Mr. Mahama announced the creation of a joint Ghana–Singapore deal team with a mandate to deliver at least USD 100 million in new investment commitments within the next 12 months.

“With our youthful and skilled workforce, Ghana is ready to serve as a trusted partner to global businesses. Accelerating Ghana’s infrastructure is not only possible it is bankable, investable, and urgent. I invite you to co-create this chapter with us,” Mr. Mahama added.

The Ghana–Singapore Business Forum brought together leaders of finance, representatives of Enterprise Singapore, the Singapore Business Federation, and Ghanaian officials to deepen bilateral investment and trade ties.
