The Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources has officially lifted the temporary suspension on transactions involving public lands, allowing the Lands Commission to resume all related services with immediate effect.
The announcement was made by Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Alhaji Yussif Sulemana, during a press briefing on reforms introduced to improve transparency and accountability in public land administration.
The suspension, which halted leasing, processing and regularization of public lands, was part of a broader review exercise undertaken by government.
Alhaji Sulemana explained that the lifting of the suspension now allows the Lands Commission to conduct transactions again, but under new administrative reforms approved by Cabinet.
“Ladies and gentlemen, it is also important to reiterate that the temporary suspension of services of the Lands Commission relating to the leasing, processing, and regularization of public lands has now been lifted by the Hon. Minister,” he said.
He added that while services have resumed, all public land transactions will now be processed under stricter guidelines designed to ensure transparency and proper oversight.
“All services have resumed with immediate effect. However, these services will be carried out strictly in accordance with the new reforms and procedures introduced by the Ministry to ensure transparency, accountability, and value for money in all public land transactions,” the Deputy Minister stated.
The reforms form part of government efforts to restore public confidence in the management of state lands.
