Minister for Health Kwabena Mintah Akandoh has once again refuted claims that the Mahama administration has sacked some health workers employed by the Nana Addo government.
Reports were rife that some health workers have had their employment terminated following a directive from the Chief of Staff for persons employed after the December 7 elections to be dismissed.
The reports resulted in a threat of strike by the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association.
The government, however, subsequently clarified that no health workers were affected by the directive.
The minority in Parliament questioned the basis for the dismissal directive from the government naming President Mahama Terminator General.
Speaking at the induction ceremony of a new rector for the Ghana College of Nurses and Midwives, Minister for Health Kwabena Mintah Akandoh reiterated that health workers were not affected by the directive.
The Juaboso MP called on the public to ignore the rumor that some health workers have been sacked, and he described it as lies.
Mr. Akandoh also announced that the government is in the process of rolling out a policy that will see health workers who accept postings to rural communities get 20% salary increments.
The development, according to the minister, is to ensure equitable quality healthcare service delivery.
