The Minister of Education, Haruna Iddrisu, has officially launched an application portal for first-year students in public tertiary institutions across Ghana to access financial support under the government’s newly introduced “No-Fees-Stress ” Policy.
The No-Fees-Stress Policy, a bold and transformative initiative led by President John Dramani Mahama’s administration, is aimed at eliminating financial barriers that prevent many Ghanaian students from pursuing higher education.

As part of the government’s 2025 budget, an allocation of GH¢499.8 million has been made to fully fund academic fees for all first-year students enrolled in public tertiary institutions under this program.
The policy intervention is expected to significantly improve Ghana’s gross tertiary enrollment ratio, moving it from the current 22% to a projected 40% by 2030, while contributing to the country’s long-term human capital development.
In a statement issued Tuesday April 29,2025 signed by Dr. Saajida Shiraz
Chief Executive Officer, Students Loan Trust Fund Students Loan Trust Fund (SLTF), she noted that the Fund in line with its mandate, will administer the financial support, ensuring that eligible students receive the necessary funding in a timely and efficient manner.
The newly launched No-Fees-Stress Portal offers a user-friendly, streamlined registration process, allowing students to submit their details and enabling the SLTF to authenticate applications and eligibility for support.
The portal is now live and accessible via:
