The Minister-designate for Trade and Agribusiness, Elisabeth Ofosu-Adjare has revealed the government’s plan to empower women-led industries.
Speaking during her vetting, Ofosu-Adjare emphasized that the government will introduce policies that will help increase the representation of women in leadership roles within the trade and agribusiness sectors. However, these efforts are part of the broader goal to implement the Affirmative Action Act, championed by President John Mahama.
“We will introduce a policy on women at the Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness, and Industry, aimed at promoting women to upscale in the industry and ensuring that we have more women at the top,” Ofosu-Adjare stated.
She also highlighted that specific initiatives and laws that will be enacted to support women-led businesses and help them thrive.
To further encourage female entrepreneurship, the minister-designate assured that incentives would be provided to women-led industries, creating a more supportive environment for their growth and success.
“There may not be too many women at the top, but those who are there can serve as mentors. This program will help young women entrepreneurs grow, scale up, and navigate the challenges of entrepreneurship. We will have incentives for women led industries”.
