We all love mango because it’s delicious, right? Well, how about we explore its nutritional values? Mango contains a number of nutrients which are needed to facilitate the functions of our immune system. We can find Vitamins A, C, E and K, Calcium, Fibre and Carbohydrates.

Research from Vinmec International Hospital exhibits that 1 cup of mango, which is equivalent to 165 grams can provide about 25% of the daily recommended value for Vitamin A, which is good for the eyes and skin. Ever wanted a glowing skin? Increase the intake of mangoes. How about having those bright eyes you always admired from babies? Vitamin A in mangoes provides just that.

Do you also know that mango contains fibre and Vitamin C, which facilitates digestion, as well as boosts immunity?  In a research published in the Official Journal of the Federation of American Societies of Experimental Biology, a group of people who consumed more mangoes daily had little or no problem with constipation as compared to those who consumed small amount of mangoes. This is an evidence that mangoes are high in fibre and water, in addition to healthy antioxidants. Still trying all kinds of drugs in the pharmacy to aid in your digestion? Put a halt to that and try taking in mangoes consistently.

Mmm, I guess we would all love this one – mangoes aid in weight loss. Most of us seek weight loss, however, we keep on taking in so much carbohydrates. Mangoes are satisfying – so instead of eating those heavy balls of kenkey or banku for lunch, you substitute it with some mangoes instead. As stated by HealthifyMe, mangoes contains relatively low calories, with just 60 kcal in 100g of mangoes, which could replace the unhealthy snacks  we take for dessert. It also mentions that the fruit contains phytochemicals called polyphenols, which causes the fat cells to shrink.

Voila! Next time you take a bite of mango, be conscious of doing your body and systems some good.
