Kwasi Kwarteng, spokesperson for Kennedy Agyapong, has revealed that his support for the Assin Central MP during the 2024 election cycle was guided by conviction, despite working under a leadership aligned with Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia.
Speaking on The Verdict with Isaac Addai on Tuesday, March 3, Kwarteng explained the reasoning behind his alignment with Agyapong, emphasizing the politician’s perceived potential to drive socio-economic progress.
“If we had any candidate that could have a better chance of winning the general election, I felt Kennedy presented a strong outlook and it was only proper for me to align with his ideals based on the conviction I carried,” Kwarteng said.
He further highlighted his belief in Agyapong’s capacity to create jobs and contribute meaningfully to Ghana’s development. “I have long had the view and conviction that Kennedy can help in the socio-economic transformation of our country, particularly with his focus on job creation,” he added.
Kwarteng acknowledged the constraints of his role as Public Relations Officer under a superior aligned with Bawumia but stressed that his support was carefully managed out of respect for professional responsibilities.
“I stood by my conviction and there are no regrets. At the end of the day, we subscribed to a certain process and there has been an outcome,” he concluded.
