I’m sorry for ‘noise-makers’ diasporans comment – Boakye Antwi

Deputy Works and Housing Minister and Member of Parliament for Subin has rendered an apology to Ghanaian diasporans for labelling them as noisemakers.

Eugene Boakye Antwi who hitherto to being an MP and Deputy Minister was a member of the diaspora in England slammed one of the leading voices of the Ghanaian diaspora Kwaku Azar for waging into the raging debate on the need or otherwise of the proposed National Cathedral.

“He (Kwaku Asare) is not a name that you should mention,” said  Boakye Antwi on Metro TV’s Good Morning Ghana in reaction to US-based lawyer’s criticism of the building of the National Cathedral.

“They come and trouble us with their noise….”

“We have all done it (before). I have woken up at 6 am, with my breakfast sat in front of my computer… With my breakfast next to me, not knowing the Ghanaian child has not even eaten.” He said.

“We all do it from far away places. If you finish eating your matter is different ooo, Randy” the Subin MP said.

Even before he’s compelled to apologise for his outburst, Boakye Antwi has honourably done the needful upon hindsight.

He said in short statement copied to Starrfmonline.com that: “Fellow Diasporeans, having taken time to watch the video, I can see how the use of a self-deprecating joke, in my attempt to defend our government’s policy on the location of building a national Cathedral, has caused offence to Prof Azar and diasporans generally.

“For that, I apologise unreservedly.”
