The newly-elected Member of Parliament for Kumawu in the Ashanti Region, Ernest Yaw Anim has been sworn in.
He was sworn in by the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin in Parliament on Tuesday June 6, 2023.
Leaders from both sides of the house, the Majority Leader, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu and Minority Leader, Cassiel Ato Forson warmly welcomed the new legislator to the House.
Ernest Yaw Anim was elected on May 23, 2023 as the new Member of Parliament for Kumawu in a by-election following the death of the sitting MP, Philip Basoah.
He secured 15,364 as against NDC’s Kwasi Amankwah who garnered 3,723.
An independent candidate Kwaku Duah who many political watchers predicted could cause an upset had 2,478 votes.
Another independent candidate also known as Kwaku Duah polled just 62 votes.
