The Coalition of Civil Society Organisations has said Ghanaians are worried over President Akufo-Addo’s inability to act decisively on cases of corruption that hit his government since assuming office.
“…There is considerable public frustration,” said Prof Emmanuel Gyimah-Boadi, the Executive Director of the Centre for Democratic Development (CDD) Wednesday when the Coalition paid a courtesy call on the president.
“I feel frustrated with the lack of actions on the many allegations of official corruption that are exposed in the media and I also have reasons to believe that there is strong popular desire to see the president take some consequential actions to address these allegations,” he added.
Earlier this year, the Executive Director of the Ghana Integrity Initiative (GII) Linda Ofori Kwafo slammed the president’s commitment in fighting corruption.
She was of the view that the president’s resolve to crack down on the menace is unimpressive.
“From where I sit and from the point of the Ghana Integrity Initiative (GII) I wouldn’t say we are wholly satisfied,” said Ofori-Kwafo on Morning Starr on Tuesday July 18, 2017.
“Most Ghanaians are not very much impressed with the way and manner these matters are being addressed. The swiftness I think we are not seeing it at all and we are not very happy with the manner in which government is approaching the anti-corruption fight,” she added.
The Akufo-Addo/Bawumia led government after seven-month in office has been hit with series of corruption related scandals including the sale of 5million litres of contaminated fuel to Movenpiina, an unlicensed company operating in the country by Bulk Oil Storage and Transport (BOST).
