Ghanaian YouTuber and content creator Wode Maya has addressed criticism over IShowSpeed’s recent Ghana tour, clarifying that strict live-streaming rules, not poor planning, dictated the streamer’s movements and location choices.
Speaking on Starr Chat with Bola Ray on Thursday, January 29, 2026, Wode Maya explained that live-streaming requirements made it difficult to travel long distances, including to popular destinations like Cape Coast.
“I wanted to showcase a bit of Ghana, but what people didn’t understand is that he doesn’t want to be anywhere 15 minutes apart,” Wode Maya said. “That is the law for streaming.”
He noted that audience retention is crucial for live broadcasts, and extended travel between locations risks losing viewers.
“When you’re moving from one location to the other, it shouldn’t be more than 15 minutes because the audience will drop,” he said. “You have to entertain people continuously.”
The time constraints influenced the decision to cluster activities in a single location rather than moving across multiple cities.
“So you realise that we had to put everything together in one place,” Wode Maya added.
Many questioned why the team did not take IShowSpeed to Cape Coast, but Wode Maya stressed that it was a deliberate choice.
“People were asking why we didn’t take him to Cape Coast,” he said. “The reason is that he didn’t want to do something he’s already done in other countries.”
He also explained that even air travel could not meet the strict 15-minute limit required for live streaming.
“From Cape Coast, even a chopper won’t take you 15 minutes to get here,” he said.
Acknowledging factors beyond his control, Wode Maya emphasized that the team worked within live-streaming realities to deliver a successful tour for global viewers.
“There were so many things put in place that you can’t control,” he said. “But you know, in Ghana, I feel like people just want to talk.”
