Former Western Regional Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Issah Fuseini, has questioned the NDC government’s record on corruption prosecutions, arguing that no individual has so far been prosecuted despite the numerous allegations made against the previous administration.
Speaking to Isaac Addae on Morning Starr on Starr FM, Mr Fuseini said the NDC made significant claims about corruption while in opposition, but has struggled to translate those allegations into substantiated cases since assuming office.
He stressed that allegations alone cannot establish that an individual is corrupt, insisting that such claims must be supported by evidence.
“The allegations are different from substantiated.”
Mr Fuseini said the continued public repetition of unproven allegations could damage the reputation of individuals even when no wrongdoing has been established.
He questioned why, after three years in office, the government had yet to secure a corruption prosecution based on the allegations it previously made.
“Till date, not even a single person has been prosecuted in terms of corruption… one year, two years… it’s going.”
According to him, the government must demonstrate that the corruption allegations it made against officials of the previous administration can withstand scrutiny and lead to concrete legal action.
Mr Fuseini also challenged the NDC to assess whether it has delivered on its promises to pursue corruption cases against officials of the former government.
“Ask them whether they are disappointed in terms of prosecuting the previous government and the allegations that they made against the previous government or not. They will tell you the truth.”
He stressed that political allegations should not be presented as established corruption cases without evidence to substantiate them.
