Black Queens assistant captain, Jennifer Cudjoe, has lauded head coach, Kim Lars Björkegren, for his uplifting spirit and positive influence on the team, especially during tough moments.
In an interview on GHOne TV, the midfielder highlighted Lars’ unique approach to motivation and team morale.
“When things are not going well, he’s one of the people who steps in with encouraging words and ensures we stay positive,” Cudjoe told GHOne TV.
“He brings positive energy every single day, and that really helped the team.”
Kim Lars Björkegren, a Swiss trainer, was appointed head coach of the senior women’s national team earlier this year, replacing Nora Hauptle, who chose not to extend her contract with the Ghana Football Association (GFA).
Under Lars’ leadership, the Black Queens secured a bronze medal at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), marking a strong start to his tenure.
Cudjoe acknowledged the impact of both coaches, noting that while they have different philosophies, each has brought out the best in the players in their own way.
“Nora too is one of the greatest managers to have worked with us. Everyone saw how she brought the best out of us,” she said. “Both of them are different coaches with different styles that suit different kinds of players.”
Looking ahead, Kim Lars will now focus on leading the Black Queens to qualification for the FIFA Women’s World Cup, set to take place in Brazil.
