The Department of Urban Roads, in collaboration with the Awutu Senya East Municipal Assembly, has commenced a comprehensive assessment of malfunctioning traffic lights in Kasoa and surrounding areas.
The initiative aims to address persistent concerns about non-functioning signals that have contributed to traffic congestion and road safety risks in the bustling municipality.
Municipal Road Engineer, Mr. Evance Amofa, in an interview with GHOne News, identified faulty signal controllers and disrupted cable connections as the main causes of the breakdowns.
Municipal Traffic Engineer, Mr. Jones Adusie, further explained that assessing the issue has been complicated by interference from nearby traders, which has obstructed access to some of the signal control infrastructure. He noted that a detailed report will be released once the full evaluation is complete.

Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Seth Banini, also briefed the media, emphasizing that the assessment seeks to identify the root causes of the faulty traffic lights and develop sustainable solutions.
“The assessment aims to identify the root causes of the malfunctioning traffic lights and develop a plan to restore functionality, ensuring improved traffic flow and safety for commuters,” Hon. Banini stated.
