Two more persons have died in the gas fire outbreak which occured at Anlo-Town a suburb of New Juaben in Eastern Region.
The first victim who succumbed to her injuries while receiving treatment at the Eastern Regional Hospital was Rose Abena Asantewa Toasbani, 17, a first year student of Koforidua Technical University.
Sadly, two other victims a 10 -year old Nyamekye Yaa Asantewa Toasbani ,a class four pupil and Mrs. Rita Ametepe, 48 -year old mother of three have also been confirmed dead at the Hospital.
The incident occured on March 14,2025 when a gas leakage was detected on one of the kitchens in the compound house at Anlo-Town Town.
The two siblings- Rose Abena Asantewa and Nyamekye Yaa Asantewa informed Mrs. Rita Ametepe that the leakage was coming from her kitchen.
They accompanied her to the kitchen unfortunately, in attempt to ensure that the knob of the burner was properly turned off, Mrs Rita Ametepe accidentally turned the burner which sparked fire and caused explosion instantly.
The three victims suffered severe injuries and were rushed to the Eastern Regional Hospital and admitted.
However their conditions deteriorated few days after they were stablized leading to their deaths in seperate days interval.
The families of the two victims are devastated by the fatal incident
Rev.Dr.Victor Toasbani Ayibo ,a Baptist Wesleyan Pastor father of the two siblings cautioned against reckless handling of domestic gas.
Isaac Ayeh, now a widower also traumatized by the harm caused by domestic gas cylinder.
