Legendary African music icon and Ghana’s favourite musician, Kojo Antwi, is set to launch his next album at Manhyia Palace in honour of Asantehene, His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

Even though the date for the album release and launch is not yet out, the music maestro has assured Otumfuo Osei Tutu II that his next album will be launched in his presence.

“Mr Music Man” made these revelations when he paid a courtesy visit to His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, during the Awukudae Festival.
The purpose of the visit was to present copies of his memoir “Mr Music Man: The Journey” to the Asantehene and Asantehemaa.

After the visit to Otumfuo, the Maestro also visited the Asantehemaa HRH Queen Nana Yaa Akyaa II, to congratulate her on enstoolment.

He presented 300 of the books to Otumfuo and 50 copies to Asantehemaa.

The Maestro was accompanied by his wife, Mrs Rocklyn Antwi and ace broadcaster, Dr. Kwame Adinkrah.

The visit brought together two of Ghana’s most celebrated cultural figures, highlighting the enduring connection between the country’s traditional institutions and its creative arts community.

During the meeting, Kojo Antwi formally informed the Asantehene about his latest literary work, Mr Music Man: The Journey, a memoir documenting his remarkable life, musical career and experiences spanning decades in Ghana’s entertainment industry.

The book, launched in February 2026, chronicles Kojo Antwi’s journey from his formative years to his emergence as one of Ghana’s most influential and celebrated musicians.

It reflects on his experiences in the music industry, the people he encountered along the way and the evolution of his artistry over the years.

The Maestro previously explained that the decision to document his life was partly driven by his concern that many African music legends left behind few written accounts of their experiences. He said his memoir was intended to preserve his story and contribute to the historical record of African music.

The musician’s contribution to Ghanaian music has earned him a lasting place in the country’s cultural history.

His career has covered highlife, Afropop and reggae influences, with his music gaining audiences both in Ghana and across the African continent.

Academic research on his career has also described him as an icon of Ghanaian popular music whose extensive body of work provides valuable material for the study of the country’s musical heritage.

His meeting with Otumfuo therefore carried significance beyond the presentation of a book. It represented an encounter between two institutions of Ghanaian heritage — the Asante traditional leadership and the country’s vibrant music tradition.

The Awukudae occasion provided a fitting setting for the engagement, as the festival remains an important moment for cultural observance and the gathering of traditional authorities, dignitaries and members of the public.

For Kojo Antwi, presenting his memoir to the Asantehene was also an opportunity to formally share a piece of his personal history with one of Ghana’s foremost custodians of culture and tradition.

The meeting underscored the importance of preserving Ghana’s history not only through traditional institutions but also through the stories, music and personal experiences of individuals who have shaped the nation’s cultural landscape.

As Kojo Antwi continues to celebrate and document his musical journey, his encounter with Otumfuo Osei Tutu II serves as another symbolic moment in the preservation of Ghana’s rich cultural legacy.
