The Public Relations Officer of the Ayew family, Fiifi Tackie, has said that Black Stars technical handler is a coach not a manager after failing to invite the Ayews to the national team over commitment concerns.
According to Coach Kwesi Appiah, his call-up was based on committed players for the encounter against the Harambee Stars of Kenya on Saturday for the 2019 AFCON qualifier.
The exclusion has not gone down well with the football fraternity because of the perception that the Ayew family is not committed to the team.
However some Ghanaians believe the Ayew brothers faked illness not to play against Congo in a World Cup qualifier, after the Black Stars were held at home by Congo Brazzaville in the first leg match.
Since then, head coach of the Black Stars, Kwesi Appiah has not recalled the Ayew brothers back to the national team.
Spokesperson for the Ayews has however rubbished claims of the duo faking injuries accusing the coach of not helping to resolve issues.
“Andre and Jordan never faked an injury to avoid playing for Black Stars and Kwesi Appiah as a coach is not managing issues well,” he told Atinka FM.
“Kwesi Appiah is a coach and not a manager.
“We are not fighting Kwesi Appiah but what we’re contending is the notion that the Ayew brothers are not being committed to Black Stars.
“A lot of Kwesi Appiah’s remarks after the Ayews exclusion is purely insinuations. He cast insinuations at the players and we know,” he added.
