Ghanaian artiste, Kwesi Arthur, has made serious allegations against his former record label, Ground Up Chale, and its Chief Executive Officer, Glen Boateng, claiming the company asserts ownership over his person, image and music despite the end of their working relationship years ago.
In a public statement, the musician alleged that Ground Up Chale claims to own “me, my image, my music and everything attached to it from 2016 to this day,” even though, according to him, he has not worked with or been affiliated with the company since the release of Son of Jacob. Kwesi Arthur further claimed he has not earned any income from his music during the period he worked with the label.
The artiste also alleged that he is currently being asked to pay $150,000 for using images of himself for his latest independent project, which he says is intended for his fans. He accused the label’s CEO of constant threats, manipulation and deliberate efforts to prevent him from releasing music independently.

“If for whatever reason this project that I am trying to give to my fans independently gets taken down, know Glen is responsible,” he stated, adding that the situation has significantly affected his wellbeing and mental health.
Kwesi Arthur further claimed that Glen Boateng and members of the Ground Up Chale team should be held responsible should anything happen to him, stressing that his decision to speak publicly was driven by concerns for his personal safety and that of his family.
The allegations relate solely to claims made by the artiste and, as of the time of filing this report, Ground Up Chale and its CEO have not publicly responded to the accusations.
