Immediate past Ledzokuku Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) and Management Consultant, Mordecai Abusuayedom Quarshie, has urged members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to allow President John Dramani Mahama time to govern before drawing political comparisons.
Speaking on The Verdict Show with Isaac Addae on Starr 103.5 FM on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, Mr Quarshie advised his party and the Ghanaian public to exercise patience and assess the current administration only after a fair period.
“In about a year, we will come back and then we’ll look at what they’ve done. Then we can actually weigh it against the infrastructure development, education, the things that we also did,” he said.
According to him, rushing to pass judgment on the new government may not yield an accurate or balanced perspective. He emphasised that the effects of leadership are better evaluated with time and proper context.
He also reflected on past political transitions, noting that former President John Mahama had once faced significant criticism but eventually made a comeback.
“Eight years ago, John Mahama was completely down. Nobody thought he could even come back. And yet he won with a margin that is so massive now,” he said.

Mr Quarshie stated that history has shown how public opinion can change dramatically with time, citing the case of former Head of State, General Acheampong.
“Even General Acheampong, who Ghanaians thought so badly of; that we tied him to a stake and shot him; today, you hear comments about him and you wonder if it’s the same guy,” he noted.
He encouraged members of the NPP to focus on internal renewal, unity, and a recommitment to public service.

“What’s important is that NPP, we unite, we come together, and we commit to service to humanity, not our own,” he said.
“We are in the process of preparing, and I believe firmly that when we finish and we come back, we can present something that Ghanaians will find wholesome and attractive again.”
