Member of Parliament for Akim Oda, Hon. Alexander Akwasi Acquah, has stirred conversation on the balance between loyalty and competence in governance, suggesting that true experience often lies outside a president’s inner circle.
Speaking on The Verdict with Isaac Addae on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, the lawmaker argued that while political loyalty plays a crucial role in leadership appointments, it can sometimes come at the expense of efficiency and expertise.
“If you really want to go into experience and competence, you might not find any in your party,” Hon. Acquah said. “Because there are people who are more competent than people who were so loyal to you and have worked to get you into the presidency and you also need the people to be loyal to you in the office.”
