The Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Mahama Ayariga, has called for stronger collaboration between Ghana and the World Bank to improve urban infrastructure and service delivery.
Mr Ayariga said sustained partnerships with development institutions such as the World Bank were critical to translating Ghana’s ambitions for sustainable urban development into tangible benefits for communities.
He made the call following an engagement with the World Bank, which focused on practical opportunities to strengthen urban infrastructure, improve the delivery of essential services and promote more sustainable cities.
According to the Minister, Ghana’s rapid pace of urbanisation requires deliberate planning and sustained investment to ensure cities remain inclusive, resilient and responsive to the needs of growing populations.
He said closer collaboration with development partners would be important in addressing the infrastructure and service-delivery demands associated with urban growth.
Mr Ayariga reaffirmed his commitment to continued engagement with the World Bank and other relevant partners to support efforts to build cities that work better for all residents.
