President John Dramani Mahama will on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, embark on a one-day working visit to the Western Region to officially cut sod for the construction of the Sekondi–Takoradi to Cape Coast highway dualization project.
The announcement was contained in a press statement issued by the Western Regional Communication Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Richard Kirk-Mensah, on Monday, October 20.
According to the statement, the project is part of the government’s BIG PUSH agenda, which seeks to accelerate infrastructure development across key sectors.
“His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, President of the Republic of Ghana and Commander-in-Chief of the Ghana Armed Forces, is scheduled to visit the oil-rich Western Region for a one-day working visit on Tuesday, October 21st, 2025,” the statement said.
It added that the sod-cutting ceremony fulfills a major campaign promise made to the people of the region.
“The President is expected to cut the sod for the Sekondi-Takoradi to Cape Coast highway dualization project under the BIG PUSH Program. This initiative is in fulfillment of a major campaign promise to the good people of the Region,” it stated.
As part of his itinerary, President Mahama will also inspect the ongoing expansion of the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital and visit several other health facilities currently under construction.
