A man who falsely claimed to be Dr. Patrick Nelson Ayittey, a worker at the Vice President of Ghana’s Office and a Captain in the Ghana Armed Forces, has been arrested by police in Cape Coast for allegedly defrauding people with promises of Canadian visas and work permits.
According to police, the suspect also claimed affiliations with the Canadian Embassy and collected GHS 5,325 and GHS 8,200 from victims but failed to deliver on his promises. Efforts to recover the money were unsuccessful.
Briefing the media, Chief Inspector Isaac Evans Ettie of the Public Affairs Unit of the Central Regional Police Command said.
