Former Black Stars assistant coach Maxwell Konadu is set to be named the new head coach of Bibiani GoldStars following the departure of Frimpong Manso.
Manso parted ways with the Ghana Premier League champions by mutual consent after their 2-0 loss to Algerian side JS Kabylie in the CAF Champions League preliminary round.
The defeat left the Miners facing an uphill battle in their debut continental campaign, prompting a shake-up in the club’s technical bench.
Konadu, 52, is highly regarded in Ghanaian football, with stints at Asante Kotoko, Legon Cities, Nsoatreman FC, and the Black Stars B, where he led the team to the 2017 WAFU Cup of Nations title.
Known for his ability to build confidence and stability, he is seen as the right man to steer GoldStars as they aim to defend their league title and make a mark in Africa.
Manso leaves behind a proud legacy, having guided the club to its first-ever Ghana Premier League triumph last season and adding the GHALCA Top 4 Cup to their collection.
GoldStars are expected to confirm Konadu’s appointment in the coming days. If finalized, he will lead the Miners in the return leg against Kabylie in Algeria and kick off the new Premier League season.
