Ghanaian MC and creative personality, David Adjei Frimpong, popularly known as MC Portfolio, has openly criticised the burial arrangements of highlife legend Daddy Lumba, describing the funeral as disappointing and unworthy of the late musician’s stature.

Speaking on Starr Showbiz with Feeling Daddy on Starr 103.5 FM on Saturday, December 13, 2025, MC Portfolio said he felt compelled to “bury my head in shame” over what he witnessed at the funeral (ongoing) grounds in Kumasi.

According to him, the level of organisation and overall execution failed to match the anticipation and public euphoria that had built up ahead of the burial. He said the event did not meet his expectations “not even halfway through,” especially considering Daddy Lumba’s influence and ability to bring together prominent figures during his lifetime.

MC Portfolio stressed that the funeral did not reflect the cultural depth usually associated with honouring a person of such calibre, noting that it fell short of the standards expected of a figure regarded as a symbol of unity. He added that the setting and atmosphere lacked the “wow factor” many had anticipated, particularly as it was the first time a funeral of that scale was being held at the main stadium.

He further questioned the level of coordination at the event, pointing to what he described as missing elements in the execution, despite earlier indications that the burial would receive state assistance. While acknowledging that the family ultimately has the final say in funeral arrangements, he maintained that the outcome did not do justice to the late musician’s status.

Meanwhile, last week, MC portfolio had anticipated that this year’s biggest Detty December event will not be a concert or party, but the funeral of the late Daddy Lumba, which he describes as the most anticipated gathering of the festive season.

“A lot more people have flown in purposely because of the Daddy Lumba’s funeral,” he said. “I think the biggest Detty December event this year will be a funeral, not even any other social events.”
